SALMON FLIES
|
|
 |
When
fly fishing for salmon, there is an old rule of thumb;
if the sun is shining and the river is clear, then lightly
coloured flies will fish best, preferably with silver
bodies. |
| Such as the silver doctor and green
highlander. In cloudy and dark weather, dark flies such
as the black goldfinch and stoat’s tail work best. And,
when the river is swampy or brownish (in a spate!), orange
and red coloured flies are excellent appetizers. So here’s
a selection of favourite flies suitable for all conditions.
These flies are fished with all over Ireland and indeed
throughout the world to catch salmon. |
